YPD announces Chief for a Day Essay Contest

Wed, 01/30/2013

The Yale Police Department (YPD) is holding its first ever Chief for a Day Essay Contest.  The contest is for students in grades 6-12 who are part of the New Haven Reads program. The essay topic requires students to reflect on how they feel about the police in their community, and discuss what they would do to keep their community safe if they were Chief of the YPD.

The deadline for the contest is February 14, 2013, and the winner of this contest will have the opportunity to be honorary Chief for a day alongside Yale Police Chief Ronnell Higgins. Tomatillo, Gourmet Heaven and The Yale Bookstore have also provided gift cards to be given to the winning and runner-up entries.
