Public Safety at Yale - General Information
The YPD's officers are armed and patrol our campus by foot, bicycle and in police vehicles 24/7, and they work to develop multiple approaches to prevent and respond to crime on campus.
The Yale Security Department staff maintains physical security in all campus buildings, including residential halls, 24 hour campus patrols, providing safe escorts, bike patrols and helping with lock-outs.
We also have several services to help you move about campus safely such as the nighttime door-to-door safe rides and 24 hour 2-WALK service. Yale Transit shuttle buses run regularly around all major locations on campus. Additionally, there are over 500 blue phones located in prime areas in case of an emergency. If you have any questions about personal safety, or witness suspicious activity, please call the Yale University Police at 203-432-4400.
